The WordUp Game Application (App) is a dictionary word guessing game.
The user who initiates the game by creating a room, asks other people to join via text or
email.
After all the other players join (up to six total players) the user who initiated the game
presses Start
Game to begin the game. Everyone views the first definition of the word, and then the guessing
begins.
Hints: Players using the Beginner Level trying to guess the word will receive hints to help them
make an
accurate guess. Beginner level gets 3 hints, 2 hints for Novice level and no hints for Expert
level.
Points and Scoring: Players get points for guessing the word using the definition(s). The points
given are
based on the number of definitions for the word. Using the first hint will deduct 1 point from
the total
score, the second hint deducts 2 points, and the third hint deducts 3 points from the overall
score
If the word is guessed on the first definition, then the score would be 7 for a word with 7
definitions, 5
for a word with 5 definitions, etc. Additionally, the player guessing the correct word also gets
points for
spelling the word correctly. The number of points is based on how many letters are in the word.
For
example: guessing a 5-letter word with 3 definitions and using 2 hints would be a total of 6
points. 5
points for the word, plus 3 points for the number of definitions equals 8, minus 2 points for
the hints
equals 6. The example is 5 + 3 = 8 - 2 = 6
The number to the left of the definition is the
total number of definitions for the word. If more than one
definition is used for the word then the definition will change after a short period of time
(approximately
20 seconds) until all definitions are used or time runs out.
